View Full Version : Weld Alumastar 2.0 questions regarding Cobra/Mach1/Bullitt

I'm hoping that someone here can clear up the confusion as to what backspacing 2.0 will fit the rear of the 03/04 Cobra/Mach1 and 01 Bullitt brakes. I have surfed many forums in hopes of finding the answer and can't seem to get a solid answer. I have already purchased the 17"x4.5" Alumastar for My 01 Bullitt which comes from the factory with the same brakes as the 03/04 Cobra and Mach1. The fronts fit perfect. The dilemma comes with regards to the rears. I also understand that the IRS knuckle on the indepenedt rears of the 03/04 Cobra does play a factor with fitment. On my speific application (01 BUllitt), the car came with the solid rear and larger brakes( same as Cobra/ Mach1 Brakes). I am the C0-Owner of HPMustangs.com and would love to be able to promote this wheel line up as well as offer some solid answers to many Members with the same questions.
Am I correct to say that Weld no longer is offering the 17x9.25 rear wheels for the Mustang? The 15" rear version 2.0 seems to have a different look than the 17" fronts.
Any chance of you guys providing the big brake Mustang guys with a 16x10 or 16x9.25? There are quite a few guys running the costly Bogarts and CCW Drag packs that would most likely love to switch but cant...........
Thanks for your help in this matter.

Wes,
We still have a few 17 x 9.25 one piece rear wheels for the Cobras. Without the IRS interference issue a 15" wheel is possible. If I recall correctly it's a 15x10 6.5" backspace. I will have to confirm for you when I get back in the office.
We will be offering a 17" and 18" wheel very soon with the Weld Racing styling you've become accustom to that will also fit the older Cobras along with the newer GT and GT500. We should have them ready at the PRI show.
Thanks,
Scott Rider

Great, if you could please confirm that 15x10 with 6.5 bs, I would greatly apreciate it. I love the look of the 17x9.25 rears but really need a tire thats only offered in 15 and a few 16 inch sizes. You guys never made the matching look of 17 inch version for the 15" rears huh?

do you guys happen to have a 17x9.25 Alumastar 2.0 that is black anodized? If not are they going to make it to match the 17x4.0 front?

We have discontinued the 17x9.25 one piece wheels but have some inventory remaining, however they are all of the Magnum design in both polished and anodized gold. Once they are sold those part numbers will be retired.
Thanks,

Can you confirm that you have no more of these in any warehouse. I have been able to locate one, so one more would be great, thanks for your help.

The only 17x9.25 wheel, with a 5x4.5 lug pattern, that is still in inventory is the Magnum with the polished finish. Part number 786P-1709212.
